Existing Tenants of a Local Authority or Housing Association
If you are currently renting a home from a council or a housing association (a Registered Social Landlord) you will be eligible for HomeBuy. However, if you only occupy a property on a temporary basis such as a short hold or licence agreement you would not be eligible. If you hold a short hold or licence agreement you would have to be specifically nominated by the local authority. If you are in breach of your tenancy, or are in rent arrears you will only qualify if specifically nominated by the local authority.
