Affordable Homes is part of Homebuy government initiative, dedicated to affordable home ownership. We operate as part of Eden Homes & Communities (Eden Housing Association) who has been appointed as Homebuy Agents for Cumbria and run the initiative under the Affordable Homes banner. Eden Housing Association is a non-profit Housing Association managing over 1450 quality affordable homes throughout the Eden, Allerdale and the Carlisle districts of Cumbria.

Throughout Cumbria there is a growing demand for affordable housing for rental and sale that local people can access. Our area is one of high house prices with below national average wages that makes home ownership difficult without help.

Eden Housing Association make a significant contribution to the provision of quality affordable homes throughout rural districts of Cumbria, by not only offering properties to local persons including key workers within the community, but through the high standards of housing services available to their tenants.

We are not only keen to ensure there is housing available to locals within the lower wage brackets, but that this housing be of the highest possible standard, striving to offer our tenants and owners sensitively designed, environmentally friendly, high quality affordable homes.

Through continual hard work by staff, board members and tenants, Eden Homes and Communities is an extremely successful housing provider. Our scheme of houses and flats for rental and shared ownership at Pooley Bridge was commended by HRH The Prince of Wales as a model of good design. It demonstrates that affordable housing can be of high quality and of good appearance, and that the development, through the housing of local families, couples and single people who work in the area, is having a positive benefit to the sustainability of the local community and economy.
